Types of Leaf Blowers
Do you regularly clean debris and dried leaves from your yard with manual tools like rake and
broom and you want to find an easy solution to get this job done? A leaf blower, which blows
and collects all the small twigs and dried leaves in one corner of your yard, can be the perfect
solution for you. In this way, cleaning your yard will become an easy, fast and even an enjoyable
task to do. But before jumping ahead to purchase a leaf blower, you must understand that there are
different types of leaf blowers in the market and you have to choose the one wisely as per your
requirements, preferences, size of your yard and of course, your budget.
Basically, leaf blowers can be divided into categories either on the basis of how they are used
or on the basis of what propels them. When we talk about how they are used by the users, there
can be three types of leaf blowers:
- Hand held leaf blowers: These units are most popular and are available in electric-powered and gas-powered versions. They are convenient and portable and yet, they are very powerful.
- Backpack leaf blowers: Usually, backpack leaf blowers are powered by gas. The blower can fit in a harness that the user wears on his back. The hose of the device reaches to the user’s front where he operates the blow, vacuum tube and the throttle. Normally, a backpack leaf blower is efficiently used for cleaning larger areas.
- Walk behind leaf blowers: These gas-powered leaf blowers are mounted on wheels and are usually a popular choice for commercial purposes. Vacuum leaf blowers can use a hose to pick up the debris.
On the basis of propulsion, they are divided into two types:
- Electric leaf blowers: Electric units are quieter, lighter and vibrate less than the gas units. A fan is driven by the electric motor of the device and so, there is no need of refill or fuel. Because these blowers are attached to the electric socket and cannot be taken to far distances, they are usually used for cleaning smaller spaces. Electric leaf blowers are further available in two types:
- Corded leaf blowers: Corded blowers provide continuous power as long as the device is attached to the electric outlet. Mobility is limited because of the attached cord and therefore, it cannot be a good choice for a bigger lawn.
- Battery operated or rechargeable leaf blowers: These cordless leaf blowers are good choice for smaller jobs or areas. They work perfectly on driveways, garages and other solid surfaces. Because they have to be recharged every now and then, they are limited in their run time.
- Gas powered leaf blowers: Gas leaf blowers use 2-cycle engine that require mixing gasoline and oil. They are heavier and louder than the electric units but they also give out more work and mobility.
Therefore, there are different types of leaf blowers for you to choose from and you have to
choose the one very wisely so that you can solve all your purposes with the unit you have purchased.
